  • Steps to DR restore Windows 2000 Server with build-in tools
    • Backup with NT backup, ERUNT
    • Install Windows 2000 Server with Storage drivers
    • Boot into Windows PE / another IDE harddisk with drivers
    • Restore from BKF (run ntbackup.exe from the C:)
    • * Copy backup data into DVD or copy to a local harddisk, Windows 2000 may not able to detect USB drive in safe mode
    • Restore registry from ERUNT (if has AD, system will unable to normal bootup yet)
    • Re-config the Network Card’s IP address if the NIC is changed
    • Boot into Windows 2000 Server in Safe Mode/Directory Restore Mode, restore the System State from BKF
    • Check Event log for any missing
  • Create a Super Floppy USB Key
Boot into Linux, and format the USB key with: mkdosfs -I /dev/sda
  • Windows Server 2003 ASR backup without a floppy drive
Solution: Perform an ASR backup on the computer without the floppy drive. Copy the asr.sif and asrpnp.sif files located in the %systemroot%\repair directory to another computer with a floppy drive, then copy those files onto a floppy disk.
For Windows 2000, ASR will stop if no floppy present
